I finished it at midnight last night. So two good knitting days and it was done. Now if I can remember how - I'll do another. I used bigger needles than I should've so I might have to felt it a bit. The top bit is too wide - the cuff but I might catch the stitches on top and do a matching bit to fold down inside for a double cuff. Hmmm...

I have never ventured beyond scarves in my kitting, so I am extremely impressed. A sock!
And your pictures make me smile with my heart and my mouth alike. It looks like you all had a good time :)
Thanks for the great photographs and well done with the sock, a great achievement, those skills are in the main well and truly lost.
Congratulations on the sock! Don't you feel like the highest example of human evolution when you turn a heel? Brilliant! And the best is yet to come because second only the the thrill of knitting socks is the thrill of wearing them.
I knit a hat once...but think I have forgotten how. Socks are impressive, as are your pictures.
Wow! I'm so impressed by that sock, you have no idea..socks are hard! My grandmother used to knit socks and slippers all the time, but I've never learned. I can crochet blankets! lol! That little house is amazing! They built it?! I'm super impressed now..I can barely clean my house, let alone build one! And I love the deer head! So beautifully tragic..it almost looks like some kind of modern sculpture..You are Canadian aren't you? Me too! I'm in BC..
Your sock is truly beautiful and the joy you shared on it's accomplishment, equally so!
That photo of Hoagy and Felix...truly frameable; Hoagy looks like a Champion, heroic...well come to think...they both look Heroic.
Goin' Saltscapes? It's been about a year since we didn't meet.
Mari - we did! we did! And you know I needed it. whew...
Carole - oh I hope they aren't. The friend of the cottage who taught me to turn a heel is a renaissance women. She and her guy built their house even though neither had done such a thing before. It has a few drafty bits but it is truly a welcoming fun place to be. She throws pots, hooks rugs and knits and that's not all. I raise chickens and the sweet patootie makes bread - we love those homely things even though we also like our computers and our wheels!
Robyn - I'm not there yet but I did start the second one today and if I can only remember what to do when I get to the heel - I'll be laughing. I did wonder where the CNN camera crew was though...
Liza - you wouldn't forget -your fingers will remember just like if you picked up some jacks and a ball today!
Eve - I know where you are! I used to live in BC - on the island. You're in a lovely spot...
Brenda - I didn't know it was on again so soon - I'll look it up. I would LOVE to actually meet you this time - let's figure it out...
and yes I agree - they both look like noble beasts!
Wow, a sock. I am going to a sock workshop soon, so maybe I'll knit one too. Looks like a lovely weekend.
wow, a sock!
They say there is somethign called "Second Sock syndrome" where the secnd one never quite gets to be finished. SOImething about the novelty wearing off.
But what would I know, sock philistine that I am.
Hoagy looks very regal, I must say. Best we was very pleased about discovering the skanky deer head.
