I love your pictures, have lost the link to your writing life, though. It's usually on this page somewhere and it's usually where I go next.
Hope your day is a little less soggy than mine.

hey jude - right after I took the pics - it started to drizzle. K and I are going to Linder's for her birthday in an hour or so...
my links are on the bottom because when I tried to load the large peony pic everything overlapped and it looked like hell so I put all the biz at the bottom. Still there though!

All the peonies I've had or been around are loaded with ants, so I'm sure that spider is very happy. ME on the other hand... albino spiders? *shivers* Glad it's not on MY peonies (though my peonies have been done for a while--they bloom mid-May)

Amazing photos though.

BEAUTIFUL pictures! I love peonies - I think they may be my favourite summer garden flowers (I also have summer wild favourites and spring wild favourites, and of course spring garden favourites). They remind me of my favourite wild summer favourites that I don't know the name of - they're called "ballblom" in Norwegian (or possibly Swedish, actually), and they look like small, yellow peonies. The blossom is quite short, though, and they are very rare, so I only get to pick them maybe every fifth year or so.

But listen to me rambling... All I really wanted was to say how much I loved this post :)

Why did it let me post as "The Burrow" but with my image? I didn't even think I was logged in... I'm very confused right now!

tartlette - the story is that the peonies need the ants to open. The ants eat the covering of the buds. True? Not sure but that is the story. Peonies perforce always have ants...
cc - I don't know - I find there is a mysterious 'other mind' out there - a blogging obstreporousity in fact. In deed.

Are those marigolds next to the tomatoes?

I wish I could come down and soak in your garden for a couple of hours.
