My Dad has flown his last flight...

My father, or Daddio as I liked to call him, has slipped these earthly bonds. He died on Friday the fourth after a very brief illness. He called himself  'one lucky guy' and I can tell you that we were the luckiest family in the world to have him as a dad.

I re-posted a birthday homage to him over at Crazy Jane but over here I think I'll just post some pictures of him through the years.

he's the funny one right in front - youngest of eight...

Uncle Inches, Uncle Baldy, Uncle Jim and Dad all long before they took those titles

this is all his grampa's grand-kids so I know he's in there somewhere,
His mum, Vera is the woman in white in the centre...

this is his official I joined the air-force picture! He's 12 here I think...

Dad on left, brother Jim on right

Dad with me in his lap, Mum with Jude and Don in front.

Dad's the one in the hat and the kids are assorted cousins, maybe my brother is there, not sure, his Dad, Charlie, stands over them all

family shot, Jude, Don, me, Daddio, Mum

Brynn, me, Kachina in front, Dad in back, Jude, Don

Our sweetest Stella and Dad on some boat??
Dad reading to a youthful Brynn...nah, she's reading to him

Mo's Motley Crew without dear Harry and Lucasie at the celebration of Dad's 85th!

the last time most of us were together was last summer at Brynn's wedding, here she is with her proud Grandpa...

That's it for now...

Jan, so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. The photos are wonderful. He was a very handsome man who had a great smile. May your memories give you comfort during the difficult time ahead. I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Well Jan, when I read the blog title, my heart sunk. You loved him so much and shared him with us, your lucky blog friends...Daddio... Will always associate that word with you and he. It comes to all of us, that time to leave but your dad lives in all of you, so never far away. So sorry, GB xo

I can see he is remembered with

love.
The deckle edges on the old photos bring back such nostalgia.
